Grave of The Archangel get this shit going with a sweet instrumental and than were off to Incantation ugly death metal some tremolo picked devil worshipping melodies. Atmosphere is dark and all that, look at that cover... see? that how it sounds. Dead Congregation are more original than i make them sound so check it out and than buy it.

Immolation/Incantation kind of thing nothing really technical at all but full old school brutality. Melody is not here so dont ask! Seriously though it does make few appearance most notably on the highlight title track. This album is some good Satan death metal so buy it, also buy the sick shirt.

Whats up party people, ok lets start the year with some death metal, Destroying Divinity are on Brutal Bands but are not similar to most other band on that label. This is nor uber brutal nor technical, its mostly mid paced death metal. Destroying Divinity kind of sound like Aeon, Immolation and Incantion gangbanged away under the fullmoon whatever that mean. Anyway the band truly shine when they slow the pace down like on the chrushing closer. If you like death slow and occult and all that crap check this out.

Once upon a time lyrics about space and shit were original, but now every tech death band ever as those kind lyrics not that i care about that most of the time anyway, personally im into satanic, misanthrope, nihilistic or Amon Amarth lyrics which are also pretty worn out but whatever. This is the follow up to Aeons Past which came out in 2007 and while they still are a tech death band they sound alot more like later era Death than say Decrepit Birth. Everything on the album is cleaner and softer i guess. Lots people are bitching about it not being brutal enough, i actually enjoy that album and the fact that it is not all out brutality. The album is consitant in is goodness and end in style with the instrumental Liquid Space Eyes and Dreaming Forever. Also the title track is one of my highlight of the year.

LAY DOWN ROTTEN - GOSPEL OF THE WRETCHED

Metal Blade released this record and i never knew, took a good 6 month after the release to actually listen to it, i mean i dont know, but having such fine product i would have made sure everybody knew this shit was out, but maybe im the only one who didnt know. Anyway this is death metal not too technical not too brutal and just the right amount of melody, this shit seriously rips. The vocal are standard death growl but get real low brutal death style some times in most songs like the end of Thy Wont Be Done as favorite of mine. Dan Swano and Mantin van Drunen have guest spot on this think so how can it be bad right. Dan also mastered and mixed the whole thing so it sound fucking huge. Dont be fooled by the somewhat deathcorish name, this is Death metal the right way.

Holy shit metal blade only sell this digitaly, bad move guys i only give you my money if can have the fucking cd in my hand, well now im piss off. Fuck you Metal Blade.

Those French dudes probably recorded the best death metal album of all time in Colossal Titan Strife. Dont believe me, well eat a dick nigga. Seriously though everything on this album is top notch. Vocals have good variety too them from low growls too high, always at the right moment, the riffs are totally insane, songs like Phaeton, Kronos and Infernal Worms Fields will make you dick explode.

Hey, i know what your thinking from seeing that cover "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO deathcore suck, fuck that shit yo" but with Diluvian (man the new myspace sucks ass, not just this one i mean in general yo, kno wat im sayin') you barely notice, it goes down pretty well kinda like  The Black Dahlia Murder. But they are way more death metal than BDM. Epidemic is melodic but stay manly about it. This is not At the Gates with breakdown, like some people might say this a nice balance between the Death and the Core. And as a bonus they are French.

Ex Deo also known as Kataklysm 2, cause it is the exact same line-up but with the addition of Blackguard keyboard player. They play death metal with a melodic touch, i guess if you know of Kataklysm the song "Taking the world by storm" would not be to bad a comparison, the lyrics are also interesting since its about greec history and shit. Still even if they play a similar kind of metal i would say it is better than a lot of recent Kataklysm work. Anyway they are to start pre-production of their new album once they are done touring as Kataklysm. So to get exited about that i guess will listen to their first work titled Romulus.

New Acid Witch is upon us and although Lasse Pyykko (Hooded Menace) left, Shagrat and Slasher Dave the remaining Witch still deliver some great death doom but with more stoner rock this time around the growl have also change since Lasse was doing them, they are now lower and laid back kind of growl which i dig a lot. Heavy as shit and soaked in marijuana and candy, thats pretty much how it sounds OH! and a lot of halloween keyboard freakout. Special mention to "Metal Movie Marijuana Massacre Meldown" for the song title of the years with
"Whichfynder Finder" not far behind.

To celebrate the arrival of my turntable (that i bought for the new Acid Witch but still have not received) lets listen to one classic death metal record from Incantation, their first one tittled Onward to Golgotha this is some dirty music, the amazing cover is good description of what youll hear on that album, rotten riff putrid atmosphere and love for Christ. Fan of Immolation, Father Befouled and dirty blasphemous shit you surely know about them if not well, the fuck is wrong with you. Other well make a man of yourself and check it out.

CANNABIS CORPSE - Tube of The Resinated

Nah not Cannibal Corpse, CannABIS Corpse, now that we got that shit down lets move on. Cannabis Corpse play death metal and really well at that, they might be a joke band or whatever but they fucking slay. Obviously the main influence here is Cannibal Corpse the "The Bleeding" era, i think its definately more technical than the first 3 Cannibal record but not totally nuts like todays CC, the growl are a nice mix low kinda Barnes-like but with faster rate of fire if you will and some high scream Fisher style. The other main influence also pretty obvious is cannabis, with Cannibal Corpse song title but with a weed spin on it see: Cannibal's "Addicted to viginal skin" become "Addicted to hash in a tin" and the lyrics fit the song title.  If your a fan of Cannibal Corpse or death metal in general you need to check them out.

HATE ETERNAL WORKING ON NEW SHIT

Hate Eternal is pretty much the most brutal and relentless band nowadays, listening to their music is kinda like being hit in face by meteorite the size of the moon (crappy comparaison but thats all i came up with). Anyway they just announce that they had finish pre-production on their new record which should be out mid 2011 i guess.
To celebrate this news lets listen to my favorite song by them and one of my favs riff of all time.

ULCERATE - EVERYTHING IS FIRE

You like Deathspell Omega style of fucked up black metal? Well this is the death metal version of it. If you dont know the fuck im talking about well you should definetely get on it. Ulcerate play some of the most dissonante and clearly not for weak death metal (me strong hoogah!!) seriouly though dont expect to listen to that after your Fall Out Boy record is over cause i dont think its gonna go well (i wonder if a Fall Out Boy fan can be a death metal fan?) anyway this doesnt sound like it likes you and you might not like it at first but stick with it and youll be reward with some of the most innovating death metal since Gorguts 1998 classic Obscura. They will have a new record out early 2011 titled The Destroyer of All so get stoked right now.

SHAMELESSLY STEALING FROM AN AWESOME BAND

ARKAIK - REFLECTION WITHIN DISSONANCE

Another awesome cover by sir Par Olofsson, the dude is shitting so much amazing art is ridiculous. On to the music. Arkaik is yet another brutal technical death band from California alongside Flesh Consumed, Severed Savior, Decrepit birth and like three thousands more bands. So what's the difference between all those bands? Not much, but most of them (well the somewhat more known one, not the other two thousands) are pretty good.    Arkaik is definetely one of my favourite cause despite the fact that everything is going at 200 mph they still able to include song in that wall of sound with some melody here and there definetely no Decrepit Birth in that regard but still some highly listenable tech death. Undoubtely contender for death metal album of the year imo.

Hey, would you look at that Crypticus release a new ep for Halloween and guess what its FREE, but not only that, its also some really god damn good oldschool death metal. Its also FREE. Midpaced death with some sweet ass riff and some seriously kick ass vocals (the vocals alone give me a boner).
