8. Hail Of Bullets - On Divine Winds

This was actually a bit of a disappointment. It is better than '...Of Frost and war' in lots of way like the overal quality of the song my problem though is that its not nearly as crushing as their debut, still its 8 so its got to be good.

7. Acid Witch - Stoned

Im totally sold on these guys, ive bought a turntable just to play their fucking vinyl cause i didnt want to wait for the cd to come out. They deliver more of their drug induced doom death halloween party and everyone is happy.


6. Allegaon - Fragments of Form and Function

Sweet technical melodeath kinda similar to 'We are the Nightmare' era Arsis. This thing as it all crushing riffs, sweet melodies and crazy solos. Lyrics are pretty cool to.


5. Agalloch - Marrow Of The Spirits

Just epic. Back to a more aggresive sound. You know of Ulver? You definetly should, anyway Agalloch play something similar Ulver first album. With is black/folk a bit of rock in there and thats it, long ass melo songs, perfect for the fall/winter season.


4. In Mourning - Monolith

This is good. Kinda similar to Opeth, when Opeth were manlier, sweet growls, riff and all that jazz a few kinda hardcore-ish vocal here and there but you get over that quickly as everything else is so good.


3. Dark Fortress - Ylem

Ylem is probably one of the most varied black metal album ive ever heard, From the insane start of the title track the more melodic genius of 'As the World Keels Over' to the crushing  'The Valley' and the apocalyptic finale of 'Wraith'.


2. Enslaved - Axioma Ethica Odini

Enslaved have always release quality record and this one is no exception. Continuing in the black prog style they been doing for about 10 years now. The first thing i notice when i first played that album is how much  the clean vocals have improved and how good the production is. Every songs on that album rock even the "godamn is that Opeth" Night Sight.


1. Deathspell Omega - Paracletus

Yeah its not as mind melting as "Fas ite..." but very few album have ever been as fucked up. This album is alot more friendly, its no Simple Plan yet but will get there by the next album. Seriously shit still feels like being sucked(yeah thats right) into one of the darkest pits of hell only this time around the songs are less batshit insane but more melodic and eh... yeah this band is godamn hard to describe so im gonna stop my failling at it right here. JUST FUCKING LISTEN TO IT.

Once upon a time lyrics about space and shit were original, but now every tech death band ever as those kind lyrics not that i care about that most of the time anyway, personally im into satanic, misanthrope, nihilistic or Amon Amarth lyrics which are also pretty worn out but whatever. This is the follow up to Aeons Past which came out in 2007 and while they still are a tech death band they sound alot more like later era Death than say Decrepit Birth. Everything on the album is cleaner and softer i guess. Lots people are bitching about it not being brutal enough, i actually enjoy that album and the fact that it is not all out brutality. The album is consitant in is goodness and end in style with the instrumental Liquid Space Eyes and Dreaming Forever. Also the title track is one of my highlight of the year.

INTO THE EVERDARK

LAY DOWN ROTTEN - GOSPEL OF THE WRETCHED

Metal Blade released this record and i never knew, took a good 6 month after the release to actually listen to it, i mean i dont know, but having such fine product i would have made sure everybody knew this shit was out, but maybe im the only one who didnt know. Anyway this is death metal not too technical not too brutal and just the right amount of melody, this shit seriously rips. The vocal are standard death growl but get real low brutal death style some times in most songs like the end of Thy Wont Be Done as favorite of mine. Dan Swano and Mantin van Drunen have guest spot on this think so how can it be bad right. Dan also mastered and mixed the whole thing so it sound fucking huge. Dont be fooled by the somewhat deathcorish name, this is Death metal the right way.

Holy shit metal blade only sell this digitaly, bad move guys i only give you my money if can have the fucking cd in my hand, well now im piss off. Fuck you Metal Blade.

Those French dudes probably recorded the best death metal album of all time in Colossal Titan Strife. Dont believe me, well eat a dick nigga. Seriously though everything on this album is top notch. Vocals have good variety too them from low growls too high, always at the right moment, the riffs are totally insane, songs like Phaeton, Kronos and Infernal Worms Fields will make you dick explode.

Hey, i know what your thinking from seeing that cover "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO deathcore suck, fuck that shit yo" but with Diluvian (man the new myspace sucks ass, not just this one i mean in general yo, kno wat im sayin') you barely notice, it goes down pretty well kinda like  The Black Dahlia Murder. But they are way more death metal than BDM. Epidemic is melodic but stay manly about it. This is not At the Gates with breakdown, like some people might say this a nice balance between the Death and the Core. And as a bonus they are French.

Still even if they play a similar kind of metal i would say it is better than a lot of recent Kataklysm work. Anyway they are to start pre-production of their new album once they are done touring as Kataklysm. Nah not Cannibal Corpse, CannABIS Corpse, now that we got that shit down lets move on. Cannabis Corpse play death metal and really well at that, they might be a joke band or whatever but they fucking slay. Obviously the main influence here is Cannibal Corpse the "The Bleeding" era, i think its definately more technical than the first 3 Cannibal record but not totally nuts like todays CC, the growl are a nice mix low kinda Barnes-like but with faster rate of fire if you will and some high scream Fisher style. The other main influence also pretty obvious is cannabis, with Cannibal Corpse song title but with a weed spin on it see: Cannibal's "Addicted to viginal skin" become "Addicted to hash in a tin" and the lyrics fit the song title.  If your a fan of Cannibal Corpse or death metal in general you need to check them out.

Hey, heres happy shit, no not really but this shits fucking awesome, remember Oranssi Pazuzu kind of jazzy/prog whatever kind of spacy black metal? Well that is complitely differente, only the space vibe is here (Obviously they are not called Darkspace for the lolz). Enough bullshit, listening to Darkspace is like being lost in space really, its cold, dark and hopeless. The vocals are distant and everything else just pass at the speed of light all around you and theres pretty much nothing you can do about it. Lay down on your couch or where ever close the light and listen to this masterpiece.

I think its one of the best thrash release this year, Heathen is pretty cool too though.

If you dont know the fuck im talking about well you should definetely get on it. Ulcerate play some of the most dissonante and clearly not for weak death metal (me strong hoogah!!) seriouly though dont expect to listen to that after your Fall Out Boy record is over cause i dont think its gonna go well (i wonder if a Fall Out Boy fan can be a death metal fan?) anyway this doesnt sound like it likes you and you might not like it at first but stick with it and youll be reward with some of the most innovating death metal since Gorguts 1998 classic Obscura. They will have a new record out early 2011 titled The Destroyer of All so get stoked right now.

ARKAIK - REFLECTION WITHIN DISSONANCE

Another awesome cover by sir Par Olofsson, the dude is shitting so much amazing art is ridiculous. On to the music. Arkaik is yet another brutal technical death band from California alongside Flesh Consumed, Severed Savior, Decrepit birth and like three thousands more bands. So what's the difference between all those bands? Not much, but most of them (well the somewhat more known one, not the other two thousands) are pretty good.    Arkaik is definetely one of my favourite cause despite the fact that everything is going at 200 mph they still able to include song in that wall of sound with some melody here and there definetely no Decrepit Birth in that regard but still some highly listenable tech death. Undoubtely contender for death metal album of the year imo.

FOR REAL (man Unique Leaders should include a fucking search bar within there site, would make things so much easier.

Holy Grail is basically a bunch of reject from White Wizzard. They play classic heavy metal with a modern touch (not metalcore though maybe a little bit) the last track Cherish Disdain is definetely metalcore but thats the only one where its really obvious . What you can expect is high pitched vocals blazing solos and catchy tunes. What can be a little disturbing is the fact that the singer sometimes sounds kinda like M. Shadows(yeah... i know he's name... fuck you) from Avenged Sevenfold weather that is a plus or minus is up to you. If you like White Wizzard or are a fan of classic metal than its a no brainer. If Devourment is your favorite band and you hate all band less brutal than the pope having diarrhea (fuck thats stupid, sorry people but ill let it that way).

Hey, would you look at that Crypticus release a new ep for Halloween and guess what its FREE, but not only that, its also some really god damn good oldschool death metal. Its also FREE. Midpaced death with some sweet ass riff and some seriously kick ass vocals (the vocals alone give me a boner). Three track one thats going to be on the 2011 record The Nexus of Death, one that is a re-invented demo track, one totally new track and a cover of Runemagick's Enter the realm of Death all that for FREE.
